About Phyllis Schwartz
Phyllis Schwartz was born in New York City, or as many know it, the home of Broadway. She lived there for the first year of her life before moving to Los Angeles.
Or as many know it, the home of Hollywood.
After growing up a few miles down the coast in San Diego, in 1980 she moved to Chicago to find fame and fortune in the local TV News business. She and her husband started raising their two children there, surrounded by lots of books, art, music and fun.
Even as a kid, she kept a diary and wrote little stories and poems.
That creative release continued during the years she was part of the rough and tumble news business of the Windy City. When she wasn't writing news, she wrote poetry.
Eventually she and her family came back to the West Coast so that
she could run the local NBC owned San Diego TV station, KNSD.
Then keeping in touch with her Hollywood-style roots, for a short while she even ran a children’s entertainment company “The Jumpitz.”
Now she has the luxury of time to indulge and focus on her “civilian” writing: enjoying her beautiful beach town life, garden, friends and family.
All of the above as a daily inspiration for her verse.
And despite battling three different types of cancer over more than three decades, she is still filled with energy, joy, and optimism and looking forward to writing even more poetry and children’s books.
